It was another Friday night and was time for a break from the office soap opera.
Hanging out with friends for a cenare has a separate charm. 😀
We decided to catch up early today at 6 pm to have enough time to hangout.
The place was undecided yet, we called up Top Notch restaurant to book a seat, but were disappointed to not find any for the evening, it was full-house 😐.
We had already started moving towards Chandrasekharpur and decided to settle for any restaurant that would come on our way.
Somehow we got hold of “Oopre Kitchen & Bar” restaurant. I don’t know how we missed this in the first place.
Oopre is one of those rooftop restaurants which holds a high reputation for its ambience and taste for the young crowd.
But its time for a reality check. 🙂
As anticipated it was also houseful. With a waiting time of 15 mins somehow we got hold of a seat and that too our favourite one which we had been eyeing from a corner 😉.
The evening had already started and the vibes were uplifting.
With the crowd steadily moving in and a pleasant soothing breeze on the open terrace of the restaurant adding to the culture of the place, the evening had just started to get young and richer.
To top it up, the live music performance at the centre stage had been holding the mood of everyone.
People were enjoying their food & drinks with live music performance and were in the close company of their friends.
Please note I wouldn’t recommend this for families with children as there would be cigarette/hookah smoke and beer on almost every table.
The crowd was young and so was the evening.
The lighting was evenly spread across each table which set up for a perfect private ambience.
We had ordered our food the moment we arrived. It was served within 15 mins.
- Location Accessibility
Here’s the complete address of “Oopre Kitchen & Bar” ( mentioned as Upre on the signboard above the restaurant ).
G 51, next to IOCL Office, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, Odisha 751016
Ease of access:
It’s absolutely a no brainer to locate Oopre Kitchen & Bar for anyone. It’s right beside the Indian Oil Petrol Pump at Chandrasekharpur, in the same building where Booze Buzz Inhouse restaurant is present.
They have a dedicated parking space managed by BMC so need not be worried about parking space.
Sanitization is duly taken care of while you enter the hotel. We sanitized our hands and made our way into the restaurant.
- Waiting Time
Upon entering I observed that the open terrace space was full house whereas the indoor space was empty.
We were asked to wait inside until someone pays their final bill. 😎
Note: They don’t accept any pre-booking. So we waited for our turn and managed to grab our seats within 15 mins.
Here’s what I felt about the ambience of “Oopre Kitchen & Bar”.
- Ambience and Service
It’s a single floor restaurant occupying an area of roughly 2000+ sq. ft.
Chair spacing is well maintained and hence you don’t feel blocked.
The restaurant can have roughly full house occupancy of around 120+ customers at any point in time.
They also have a very small confined space for your private party.
The vibe of the place was lively and uplifting. You could consider it a good place to spend the evening with friends.
The service offered was really good, as they helped to change our seat 2 times until we found our favourite spot 😄.
5. Taste and Price of the food
Items we ordered were mainly in the starters category which included:
- Chicken tikka – 4.3/5.0
- Afghani Murg – 4.3/5.0
- Tangdi on Fire ( Dish of the day, because of its presentation. Video posted on our Instagram handle Click to check 🤩 ) – 4.4/5.0
- Tandoor Chicken – 4.3/5.0
- Honey chilli potato – 4.4/5.0
- Roast Chicken ( Cooked in Spicy peri-peri creamy sauce, served with Mashed potato and grilled vegetable ) – 4.4/5.0
- Brownie Sizzler – 4.5/5.0
- Beers as our usuals and a cocktail whose name I forgot 😐
Pricing of the food
We have had enough quantity for the day and paid Rs. 6000 and change /- for 4 of us which includes everything.
The food was overall good and I would say it’s priced a bit on the higher side compared to its peers.
Although, the price gets justified with the ambience, service and menu offered.
Overall, our experience was first-class. Would surely visit again !!
- Ease of access – 4.6/5
- Ambience – 4.5/5
- Service – 4.3/5
- Taste – 4.3/5
- Price – Bit on the higher side.
Here’s my final take on it?
11:00 in the foodmaniak’s clock of 1-12.
1 stand for “No venture zone for foodies”.
12 stands for “This is THE place for Food Maniaks”.
